Hikurangi Community Covid Response Plan

The HBA and Hikurangi Community Volunteers are working hard in the background to develop a community response plan for the Hikurangi District that provides support and guidance for those with questions about or are effected by Covid19.

We do not yet know the impact covid19 may have on our community, so our group's aim is to be prepared for a possible outbreak and ensure information is available for anyone in our district who may end up effected by the illness.  We aim to cover the following areas:

-Hikurangi Township

-Hukerenui

-Towai

-Whakapara

-Puhipuhi

-Whangaruru

-Whananaki North and South

-Opuawhanga

-Marua

-Kauri

We are working on a variety of initiatives that can provide support  for local residents, which includes:

Community Helpline

We are developing a community helpline that people can call for local support as they recover from covid19 or for local help and information about any covid19 issues.  Our 0800 number is active now and you can call anytime and relay your queries and someone will phone you back with the best advice for you within minutes.

0800 114 981

Please note the advice from the Northland District Health Board is that if you have any covid19 symptoms you should get a test.  We will in due course provide a list of testing locations and have them listed on our hikurangi.co.nz website.  If you aren't able to access a test call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice.

Community Information Booklet

Ngatiwai has provided us with a booklet that can support you and your family to get ready and prepare for covid19 in your home.  If you would like a supply pack with N95 mask, sanitiser, the preparation booklet then please call our 0800 numberto request one.

Emergency Supplies

We are working with local community groups who are able to drop off emergency supplies to your home if you need to isolate and require food, medical equipment, or cleaning supplies.  In time we are also hoping to be able to drop off rapid antigen tests too if you suspect you have covid19 but are unable/not wanting to get to a testing site in Whangarei.

WE ARE CALLING FOR LOCAL PRODUCE SUPPLIERS WHO ARE WILLING TO DONATE FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED.  IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER FOR THIS SERVICE PLEASE EMAIL ADMIN@HIKURANGI.CO.NZ.

Vaccinations and Testing

We will be liaising with local medical practices and other health providers to issue a list of testing sites/dates and vaccination sites/dates that are located closest to our district.  Please keep an eye on our website for updated details as we consolidate all the public health information.
