Hikurangi Community shed

We have some exciting news!

We all know Whangarei has a Mens Shed, and what an amazing asset they are to the community!  We are so excited to be able to announce that a similar initiative is looking to start right here in the Hikurangi District!

The Hikurangi Community Shed is being started by two local motivated Mens Shed members who want to see the lads and lasses of Hikurangi have a space where they can come together, be social, and work on projects.  People with all kinds of skills are invited to register and we are currently seeking interested peoples to reach out and let us know if you are interested in joining, so we can start to work out the details of what this initiative will look like. 

We have organized an initial meeting for January 2024 where we want interested people to come along, and hear what we are trying to create in our awesome village.  This is open to any one in the Hikurangi District, and you don't NEED to have a particular skill to join!  We will be welcoming anyone who wants to join in and learning is a part of what we do as much as doing is!  The Community Shed will likely operate in two aspects, a male shed time and a female shed time, because we all know the wives like the hubby's to get out of the house for a while and the hubby's enjoy getting away from the wives just as much! In our space we will have a variety of equipment and tools so you can create (or carry on with creating) whatever it is you want to create. 

At this stage our location for the shed isn't confirmed but we do have some options up our sleeve.  To make this successful, we need people!  So if you are interested in hearing more about what we are trying to achieve, please come along to our meeting in January.  Please do contact Mike if you have any questions before the meeting.   All details on the flyer below:
